Working in Conflict
War causes untold suffering and is a major cause of poverty. It reverses economic growth, causes hunger, destroys roads, schools and health centers and forces people to flee their homes. Worldwide, there are around 8.4 million refugees and 23 million people displaced from their homes and living within their own country.
Throughout Africa, Asia and Latin America, SCIAF funds projects which provide support for the survivors of war and help to prevent further conflict by promoting peace and reconciliation within communities.
