Forty-six-year-old Rosemary comes from the remote Turkana District of northern Kenya, one of the most inhospitable natural environments on earth with scorching temperatures and frequent droughts.

Rosemary used to struggle to feed her eleven dependents on the meagre income she generated from selling tea until she was helped by a land reclamation project which creates farming land using mud from the local river.

Thanks to your donations, Rosemary was provided with land and the tools and training she needed to grow a variety of products such as maize, bananas, groundnuts, and sugarcane.

She now has enough to provide her family with a good diet and uses the extra money she makes to pay for school books and medicines for her children.

"It was difficult before, when I was only earning a small amount. I couldn't pay for the school fees or uniform and I relied on relatives for medicine. There were even days when we went without food. This farm is very important to me and the problems I had before have been reduced."
