Auction
Get your friends to pledge services or unwanted items. You can even ask people to donate themselves and auction them as a servant for the day. Contact local celebrities too asking them for a signed photo or book.
Apple Bobbing
Float apples in a basin full of water and charge people 50p to try and pick one out using just their mouths, giving a small prize to anyone who suceeds. A perfect fundraiser for Halloween.
Arts and Crafts Sale
Get creative - make your own cards, candle holders, bookmarks or pencil pots, set up a stall and give the proceeds to SCIAF.
Abseiling
Find a tall building, get kitted out with the appropriate safety gear and ask your friends to sponsor you to climb down it.
Bad Hair and Tie Day
Get staff to wear a silly hat, wig, hairstyle or tie for the day and present the worst one with a small prize.
Burns Night
Throw a supper in honor of Scotland's best loved bard and ask guests to make a donation for their haggis, neeps and tatties.
Barbeque
Invite round some friends and charge them a small fee for burgers and sausages. What better way to spend the summer?
Book Group
Start a book group with your friends and get each person to make a donation every time you meet. Why not try price matching and give the same ammount of money that you paid for the book.
Bungee Jump
Take the plunge for SCIAF. Arrange your jump and get friends and family to sponsor you.
Beat the Goalie
All you need is a football, some goal posts, a goal keeper and a collection bucket for donations.
Car wash
Publicise the event at your workplace, school or parish.
Coffee Morning or Cake Sale
Hold a cake sale or coffee morning in aid of SCIAF. It's hard to beat a bit of tasty home baking and the tried and tested fundraising events are often the best.
Clothes Swap
Ask your friends to have a hunt for clothes and accessories they no longer wear, then invite them all round and get swapping. This is a great way to refresh your wardrobe while making money for a good cause. Don't forget to charge a donation at the door.
Comedy Night
Hold a stand-up competition in your school, student's union or church hall and ask for a donation from everyone who comes to watch.
Come Dine With Me
Bring together some friends and take it in turns to cook a slap up dinner for the rest of the group. Mark each other out of ten using pounds instead of points. The person who earns the most money at the end of the week is the winner. Pool together your totals and send the donation to SCIAF - we'll use it to help families around the world grow more food so that they don't have to go hungry.

A great way to fundraise at Christmas time.
Dance Marathon
Don't stop till you drop. See who can dance the longest, good exercise and lots of fun!
Dress Down Day
Charge people £1 to ditch suits and uniforms and come to work or school in casual clothes.
Dog Wash
Offer a pooch cleaning service for friends, family and neighbours. Charge a small fee and send the proceeds to SCIAF.
Disco
Pick a theme, find a venue, sell tickets at the door and get on down to the beat.
Dinner Party
Invite round a group of friends and ask them to make a donation in exchange for a fancy, three course dinner.
Exhibition
Budding artists can display their work to friends and colleagues. Charge money for entrance, provide snacks and wine and hold a silent auction of the exhibits.
Errands
Offer to do the messages for members of your family in exchange for a small fee.
Easter Egg Hunt
Hide chocolate treats round your school, house, garden or office and offer clues in exchange for donations.
Fairtrade Tea Party
Serve Fairtrade tea and coffee from dainty cups. You can buy Fairtrade goods from most supermarkets.
Film Night
Invite your friends round for an evening of cinema style entertainment. Get popcorn, snacks and a selection of DVDs and ask your Pal's to bring a donation for SCIAF.
Fashion Show
Put together some funky outfits and get some volunteer models to strut their stuff for SCIAF. Charge guests for tickets on the door or set up shop after the show and give us a percentage of the proceeds.
Fancy Dress.
A fun way to fundraise at any time of year. Charge people £1 to enter a fancy dress contest and award a small for the most original outfit.
Face Painting
Set up a stall at summer fetes and watch the queues begin to form.
Football
Bring together some local teams and hold a tournament. Charge each team a small fee to enter and sell tickets for the games. A great way to keep fit and make money.
Global Dinner
A global dinner is a great way of raising lots of money and reflecting on global inequality at the same time. Draw names out of a hat so that 10% of your guests are treated to a lavish three course meal while the rest eat a simple dish. You can make these guests sit on the floor and do the washing up too.
Gig
Rent a room in a bar or pub (usually at minimal cost or for free) and get your friend's bands to play for free. Invite everyone you know and charge for tickets at the door. Publicise your event on Facebook and put up posters in the shops, cafes and bars near by. Don;t forget to let people know where the money you raise is going.

Garden Party
One for the summer months. Dress to impress and feed your guests cucumber sandwiches and strawberries and cream.
Homemade
Make a stall at school or work and invite people to bring homemade items from cakes to cards.
Hurl the Haggis
See who can throw our national dish the furthest. Charge entrants and small fee for taking part and don't forget to present the winner with a prize.
Halloween Party
Dress your house in cobwebs, put on a creepy outfit and organise some spooky games and snacks.

Indian Night
Invite your friends and family round for a tasty home-cooked curry and charge them a small fee to tuck in.
It's a Knock Out
Get some teams together, dress them up in silly outfits, design an obstacle course and a set of games and challenges and let them battle it out for the top spot. Ask for a donation from each team that joins in - and from everyone who comes along to watch.
Ironing
Offer to do the ironing for you mum and ask for a donation in exchange for your services.

Jelly Eating Contest
Gather the greediest pigs you know for this messy fundraiser.
Jumble Sale
Get people to donate any items they no longer want - like that sandwich toaster that's been sitting at the back of the cupboard since Christmas - and sell them on to someone who does. Don't forget to send the proceeds to SCIAF.
Karaoke Evening
Any pub will be happy to host you providing they get the takings from the bar.
Knitting
Whether its a scarf, cardigan or bobble hat, knitwear is essential for those chilly winter nights. Why not set up a knitting club with a group of friends and sell what you make in aid of SCIAF. Or, if you're a dab-hand with a needle and thread, you could charge friends and family to customise their clothes.
Keep Fit
Get your mates to sponsor you for taking on a sporting event, hold a keep fit competition between you and your friends to find out who is at their physical peak, or hold a fitness day at your school or office - wear tracksuits, eat healthy food and do plenty of exercise.
Kite Flying
Hold a kite building competition and charge people £1 to enter. Then fly your creations to see which is the best.
Lent Lunch
Organise a simple meal of bread and soup one day a week for Lent and ask participants to donate their lunch money.
Litter Picking
Could your street, local park or school yard do with a clean up? Why not kit out some volunteers with gloves and bin liners and go litter picking? Put up posters to let people know when and where your litter pick is taking place, invite them to join in and explain that you will be collecting money for SCIAF in exchange for all your hard work.
Lawn Mowing
Offer to cut your neighbours' grass in exchange for donations.
Masquerade Ball
Arrange a masked ball with your friends and charge for tickets. Everyone wear a mask and hold a competition to guess who's who. A live band will help to draw a crowd.
Murder Mystery Night
Sell tickets, get your friends to dress up to make it more fun, and see who can work out whodunit first.
Marathon
Get sponsored to go the distance for SCIAF.
Massage
Charge your workmates for a relaxing massage and send us the proceeds.
Magic Show
Can you pull rabbits out of hats, bend spoons with the power of your mind and make objects disappear? If you are a master when it comes to card tricks and slight of hand, put on a magic show for your friends and family. Don't forget to get your audience to pay for a ticket before being amazed.
Name the ...
...doll, teddy bear, tortoise. A time-honoured, fool-proof fundraiser. Assign a name to your chosen object and get friends to guess for a small prize.
Non-Uniform Day
Charge everyone at your school or office £1 to swap their shirt and tie for jeans and a t-shirt.
Netball Tournament
Get together some teams, ask them each for a donation in order to take part, and let the competition begin. Sell snacks and drinks to the spectators and make even more money for SCIAF.
Orienteering
A cross-country race using only a map and a compass.
Odd Jobs
Offer your services to friends and neighbours in exchange for cash.
Obstacle Course
Set up a crazy course, full of twists, turns and surprises. Charge competitors £1 each to take part and get them to scramble over, under and through all manner of pesky obstacles before they reach the finish line.
Pancakes
Cheap and easy to make, but will raise lots of money on a cold winter's day. Chocolate spread, bananas, ice-cream, lemon and sugar can be added to provide bespoke recipes.
Penny Collection
Save up all the 1, 2 and 5p coins you get in your change. They'll soon start to add up.
Party
Got a special occasion coming up? Throw a party to celebrate. Choose a venue, pick a theme and ask your guests to make a donation to SCIAF as they arrive. You can hold all sorts of games and competitions to help boost your fundraising total.
Play or Panto
Put on a play or pantomime and sell tickets to your friends and family. Why not charge a little extra for refreshments or hold a raffle during the break.
Pin the Tail on the ...
Draw a donkey on a large sheet of card, hardboard or scrap wood, then make a a tail out of rope or cardboard and charge people £1 a go to pin the tail to the drawing while wearing a blindfold. If you don't want to draw a donkey, choose a different animal - just make sure it's one with a tail.
Pram Push
Get teams of two to dress up as mother and baby and build prams out of wheelbarrows or abandoned shopping trolleys then race through your local park or town centre. Each team can either ask their friends to sponsor them for taking part, or collect donations from people who've come to watch the fun.
Quiz Night
Who's the scariest person you know? Are they a match for Ann Robinson? Make their dreams come true by giving them a chance to torment contestants as they struggle to find the answers. Enter a sponsored run or organise a running competition - if you're not sporty, get creative, add obstacles, wear sacks.
Race Night
Hold your very own derby at your school or parish hall. Sell tickets and send a percentage of the winnings to SCIAF.
Raffle
If you're having a Ceilidh, concert, disco or fete, why not tag on a raffle and raise even more money for SCIAF? Ask people to donate prizes, buy a book of raffle tickets and sell them for a £1 each.
Random Acts of Kindness
Do something nice for a friend or neighbour - take their dog for a walk, do their recycling, weed their garden in exchange for a small donation.

Silence, fast, run, hop, cake-eating - you name it, it can be sponsored.
Swim-a-thon
Get a group of friends together and see how many laps of your local pool you can cover between you. Ask people to give you 10p for every length you swim.
Shave
... your beard, moustache, eyebrows, head or legs to raise money for SCIAF.
Soup Kitchen
Take it in turns to bring a tasty pot of soup to work one day a week and charge colleagues £1 for a cupfull.
Sumo Wrestling
Get a couple of inflatable sumo suits and some willing volunteers, then charge friends and family a small fee to watch the fun unfold.

Talent Show
Has your town got talent? Hold a competition in your school, student's union, church hall or community centre and charge family, friends and nieghbours a small fee to come and watch.

Get local businesses to donate prizes, stick the tickets in a hat, then shake well and pick out a winner.
Tug of War
All you need are two teams. a collection bucket and a very long rope.
Teddy Bears Pic-nic
A perfect fundraising event for a summer's day. Send out invitations, set out some blankets and don't forget to bring along teddy. Why not hold a collection for SCIAF or sell homemade lemonade, sandwiches and tasty treats?
University Challenge
Collect together teams who attended the same or nearby universities or schools and hold a challenge to see which one comes top.
Upside Down Day
Wear your shirt and tie back-to-front or your jumper outside-in.
Umbrella Rental
Here in Scotland we're not short of rain. Keep a stash of umbrellas in your office and rent them out to colleagues who've forgotten theirs.
Unwanted Gifts
Get friends to donate things they don't want or need then hold a car boot sale or sell your stash on eBay and donate the money you make to SCIAF.
Valentine's Day
Hold a love-themed party around Valentine's Day or make cards to sell and charge for hand delivery. If you're feeling brave you could even start your own barbershop quartet and deliver songagrams.
Variety Show
Collect together all the musicians, performers and entertainers you know, put together a show and sell tickets to your friends and family.
Vegetarian Dinner Party
Invite your friends round for a meat free dinner and ask them to make a donation to SCIAF in exchange for their food.
Wine Tasting
All you need is lots of Fairtrade wine and maybe some cheese and crackers.
World Cultures Day
Get together with a group of friends or family members and split into groups of two. Each group then choose a county or culture that you'd like to focus on and spend a week finding out as much as you can about it. Collect pictures and and stories, find examples of the art and music that comes from your chosen area, design a costume based on the traditional dress and prepare a typical dish. Then bring all the groups together for a World Cultures Day - put up displays to share what you've learned, explore each of the different cultures, and try the food.
Who's That Baby?
Get some of your friends or colleagues to bring in photographs of themselves as babies and then charge people £1 a go to match the baby picture to the person. Award a small prize to the person who gets the most right.
Window Cleaning
Offer a window cleaning service for your friends and neighbours in exchange for donations.
Walk
A great way for people of all ages to keep fit and raise money for SCIAF. Choose your root, invite some friends along and get people to sponsor you.
X-Factor
Organise your very own X-Factor singing contest.
Xylophone Orchestra
With a group of friends collect together all the old glass jars and bottles you can get your hands on - the more shapes and sizes the better - then fill them all with different ammounts of water so that they each make a different sound when hit with a wooden spoon. Then compose a tune, or try a xylophone rendition of your favourite pop song, and charge friends and family to come and see your orchestra play.

Buy some big tubs of natural yoghurt, then set up a stall and add fruit, nuts, honey and all manner of goodies to order. You could even make your own frozen yoghurt to sell.

Hold a yoga class in exchange for donations or take on a marathon yoga session and ask your friends to sponsor you.
Zorbing
If you've always dreamed of raising cash by rolling down a hill inside a massive, inflatable plastic ball, then this is just what the doctor ordered.
