South Sudan

 Long before the crisis broke out in Darfur the people of southern Sudan were subject to a merciless civil war which lasted 40 years and devastated the popultation.

SCIAF's partners in Sudan are dedicated to helping people to rebuild their shattered lives but with the need so great and the task so large SCIAF has decided to open up its first overseas office in Juba, the regional capital of southern Sudan.

Alice Ligunya, SCIAF's new Sudan Programme Manager is the first SCIAF staff member based overseas. Alice has extensive experience in Sudan and her native country Kenya. She also spent a few months training in our offices in Scotland.

Stephen Martin, SCIAF's Africa Projects Officer will be working closely with Alice so that they can respond to development needs as they arise.

Stephen is currently visiting the Juba office and will be witnessing first hand the difference your donations are making to the plight of the Sudanese people.
